Alexanderplatz, Berlin

Space as urban landscape. Creation of lasting values and dynamic processes

External conditions such as the duration of solar illumination, forms of use and movement streams change the mineral surface of the square, which has been interwoven with plants. The presence of the seasons and the change of the usage intensity are effective and perceptible. They stand alongside the static and spatial elements of the public space. The square becomes a reflection of its use and integrates the beauty and the colours of nature.
