Unité d’habitation Le Corbusier, Berlin Type
Lobby
Le Corbusier, Modulor, play of the fillings, 1954
Benches, colour field, colour object
Bench, white concrete, completely saturated, 48 x 60 x 240 cm
Colored object, acrylic on MDF board, 34 x 34 x 17 cm
The colors found on surfaces and objects are constituents of the floor plan and section. A pair of benches divides the foyer into contrasting spatial fields. A mural incorporates an existing heating unit. Color choice was a response to existing exterior features. Through daily use, which involves entering into a dialogue with the interior, the interaction of colored field, seating object and space, finds its completion.
